Food for Your Hair!

Did you know that by adding essential vitamins and minerals to your diet, you can enhance the health of your hair?

By adding omega-3 fatty acids to your diet, you are increasing the shine of your hair and its fullness! Your body cannot make these healthy fats, so you have to get them from food such as salmon, sardines, and mackerel or supplements.

Did you know that Greek yogurt is packed with protein and B5? By eating Greek yogurt, you are helping helps blood flow to your scalp and enhance hair growth!

Leafy green veggies like spinach and kale have tones of vitamin A, plus iron, beta carotene, folate, and vitamin C, which helps your hair to hold moisture.

Did you know that vitamin C helps protects your hair from breakage? One cup of guava has 377 milligrams of vitamin C. That is more than four times the minimum daily recommended amount!

Eating iron-fortified cereal grains, and pasta and soybeans and lentils can help with hair loss.

Get the right amount of protein from eating lean meats like chicken or turkey. When you do not get enough protein, hair growth “rests.”

Sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, cantaloupe, and mangos are filled with a good-for-you antioxidant called beta carotene. Your body turns beta carotene into vitamin A. That helps protect against dry, dull hair. It also encourages the glands in your scalp to make an oily fluid called sebum that keeps hair from drying out.

Cinnamon helps with blood flow and brings oxygen and nutrients to your hair follicles.

Eggs are rich in a B vitamin (biotin) that helps hair grow. Not having enough vitamin B can lead to hair loss. Biotin also helps strengthen fingernails.

By adding beef, crab, lobster, oysters, and fortified cereal into your diet, you are adding zinc. Cells that build hair rely on zinc to help them work their hardest.

Do not forget to drink your water! Your hair is thirsty, too. When your hair lacks water, it dries out and gets frizzy. By drinking 8 cups of water per day, you are hydrating your hair follicles and simultaneously preventing unwanted breakage.
